finally got myslef a mk1 golf (all be it a fixer upper lol)

a friend of mine (a new best friend lol) has given me his old 1982 mk1 golf c formel e, its my first vw and i am so excited to get started on it, needs a bit of welding on it and a few new parts to be sourced but have been trawling the sites inc crazyquiffs and bbt and have sourced everything that i think i need or may need.

it is in a fairly shocking state at the mo but it cost me nothing so am willing to put a few £££'s into it to get it looking nice, originally just wanted a cheap little car for the winter as i am planning on doing my full motorbike test and wont be riding that if we have repeats of the last couple winters lol. but he has got me into mk1's, ive always had a soft spot for old cars and anything retro so it didnt take much convincing to get me looking at these little beauty's.

im planning on keeping it pretty standard, just lowering it and a respray in a colour that they were manufactured in that year. im a welder by trade and have had a fair few cars and have a good network on mechanic and tool wielding friends so i am planning on tackling as much as i can myself, you cant beat the satisfaction of standing back and admiring your own craftmanship (as long as it goes ok lol)

well i just thought i would say hi to all you guys, you seem like a good bunch (been reading through a few posts) i will get some pics of her up when i get it into my garage and try and keep updated with pics of progress as it goes. hopefully i dont bore people too much by asking too many questions when i get stuck (which i undoubtedly will lol)

Welcome to the site !!
Look forward to seeing some pics :-)
Have you thought about becoming a member, the discount at CQ's and BBT's would easily pay for it, that's not to mention insurance discounts !!
We have our AGM weekend in July, fancy coming along ?

Cheers,
Ade

Cheers for the invite to the agm meet mate, dont think I'll have the golf ready to go by then as I only really have the weekend to spend on it. Where is the meet being held? my mate and I might come along in his '83 1.3 golf 3 door, how much discount do you get from cq's and bbt's with the membership?
