Diesel Automatic from Portugal

Hello all, from Portugal.

I currently drive a mk1 5-door 1982 Diesel with Automatic transmission, and I love it! It has been with our family since new and has little more than 130.000km on it (80.778 miles).

I hope to find vast knowledge in this Owner's Club.

All the best

Hi and welcome!

Sounds interesting MK1, can we see some pics?

Is there much of a following of the MK1 in Portugal?

cheers
Andy

Well if you would like to see pictures in and about my car, click here:

All my pics (so far) are conveniently arranged in the first post. I update this post from time to time. If you like, use Google Language Tools to get a hilarious Portuguese to English translation! Google Translate

My car is not in pristine condition… it is in "daily use" condition and I just clean up or repair things here and there. I do not need a show car for daily use, and do not have money for such a thing.

The site http://www.clubegolfpt.com/forum/ is home to the Clube VW Golf Portugal, where Golf enthusiasts of all Golf generations show their cars, and organize get-togethers. There are some beautiful and original mk1's, especially GTI's and Cabrio's, but you will find more owners of mk2's and especially mk3's. It is nice when all generations are present at our get-togethers because we like to see how the Golf has changed over the years.

There are not many Mk1's riding around our roads, but there are thousands of Mk2's!

Welcome to the club! Lovely car you have there! I can see quite a few trim differences between yours and mine…I have a 1982 5 speed manual 1588cc 5 door diesel. You have different dash details (coloured panels, different glovebox and a dash clock) and seat material, but all in all pretty similar. What's the automatic like to drive? I don't think the automatic diesel mk1 was ever sold in the UK!
