Complete newbie girl!

Hi All,

I am completely new to all of this MK1 stuff.. I used to think they were horrid looking but after spending almost a year with a boyfriend that was completely in love with old cars, I have to say they have won me over.

I dont own a MK1, infact I dont even drive.. Legally  :lol:

Joined this forum as I am on the look out for one of these awesome cars for my now ex boyfriend as it would be his dream to own one again.
Im not currently on speaking terms with him thanks to his interfering ex so I need advice from all of you lot :)

I know that I do not want a soft top & it has to be a runner.. but besides from that I dont know what I should or shouldnt look out for :(

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hi and welcome to the club.

Have a look on the home page, bottom right i think and you will find a buyers guide, that will give you a good idea of what to look at.

What is your / his budget as that will help people give you a better idea at what sort of condition car your budget should allow

best of luck with your search

Thank you, I will have a look.

I dont really have a budget tbh, as if the car is worth the money I will source the funds! It is a surprise gift for him, although Im not 100% he deserves it so may just keep it for myself!

@ScottishLass

You did say any advice would be appreciated... Go crazy, buy the best Mk1 you can afford (make it one you love), fill it with fuel and enjoy.You may feel inclined to pass your test! Do keep us posted. IMHO life is so much better viewed from a Mk1. AJ 8)
