Hello, I'm Lorenzo from Bologna and I'm a classic car fan and collector.
When I was a teenager I loved the first GTI, it was the car of my dreams. I 1990 I bought one of the first GTI registered in Italy: it was manufactured in November 1976. I restored and had some fun with it but in 1998, I needed space for other projects and decided to sell it.
What an error! I had repented and tried to buy it back but unfortunately the GTI was heavily transformed for vintage race and lost its originalty.
After a two years research now I've bought another one, it's a 1978 M.Y., manufactured in April 1978. Now it's undergoing a light restoration as it is in very good original condition with only 2 owners and 123.000 Kms and, luckily, no rust.

The GTI is equipped with US bumpers, I'm investigating if it was originally delivered as is or is an early modification of the the first owner.

I added the correct US sidemarkers and US emblems. I always loved the us Rabbit look.

In the same month of production of mine, the US model manufacturing was transfered in North America. Maybe some US bumpers were installed on euro models? Does anyone knows about others?
