Campaign - newbie
Hi folks,
I have just registered on the site and thought I should raise my hand and make my presence known. Hiya!
I have recently been left my father-in-law's Mars Red Campaign which he had from nearly new and is in nearly original condition (give or take 20 odd years!) It needs a bit of tlc and I probably need some pointers.
So far I've fixed the driver's seat, coolant leak, dodgy battery… but the list is fairly long.
The door seals that run along the top and front of the doors need replacing (very wet carpets after washing the car on Sunday). Any ideas where to get replacements? I have found volkswarenhaus but I don't know the part numbers of the seals and I'm not good at German. Is there anywhere I can look up part numbers?
Appreciate all your help,
Mike

May not be the door seals. Check out the drain hole in the engine bay (under the scuttle) first. It may be full of crud and clearing it out will solve problem. Welcome to the club by the way and your father obviously had a wonderful choice of cars.
Cheers.
Cheers.

Thanks for the quick response!
Yeah, I spotted that I had filled up the scuttle with water, before clearing out the valves and draining the water out. I'll bow to your experience on the probable source of the leak.
I managed to get a nice puddle in driver and passenger footwell and also the footwell behind the driver's seat. I've still trying to dry out the car, but the underlay is really wet (and smells of wet dogs!) Just really glad that it's sunny today!
One of the door seals (outerpart) is flapping about, so I'm going to have to find a replacement, so if you've got any suggestions of good suppliers…

Thanks! I've followed your advice and underlay is currently getting a tan in the back garden!
