ive just bought an 89 black cabriolet 1800 gti and would like to slowly resurect her to her former glory. does anyone know of a garage in east sussex that is good with golfs or one with a reliable reputation?

What is wrong with the car?

Thanks for the welcome and the good luck with the resto !!. Theres not alot wrong to be honest although it is pinkin when the engine is put under load a local mechanic is looking at it, he assures me its not the tappets and that it may be to do with the exhaust at the manifold, doe this sound like a common problem?
it doesnt tap when started from cold and when its idling is sounds great, anything over 2500 revs she sounds like a small tractor!!
