Buying advice please

Hope someone can help?

I have been offered a 83 mk1 GTI LHD (Imported) body seems solid although someone has painted and fitted skirts they also painted over the wheel arch covers.
It has High mileage although engine runs well.Interior is not great but i have seen worse.
Any idea of value?
