Brand-Spanking new!
Been reading this forum for months, as i am really interested in Mk1s. I am due to pass my driving test in a few weeks (God willing), and i am keen on picking up a mk1.
Now heres the tough bit. I havent got the greatest mechanical mind. I know a few basics etc.
Does anyone know how i can learn more about mk1s etc, i mean it seems everyone here is an expert. Sometimes im reading a section and im like.."what the hell.."? lol.
id appreciate some help in some way or the other. As you can see im a basic basic beginner.
Cheers.

when you get your hand on your own mk1 you will find that your knowledge will become more and more by experience and the use of the forums on here you could always get a haynes manual for your particular mk1 when you get it find them on e-bay all the time
to be honest before i got mine 3yrs ago i knew sack all about them even though i had one some 25yrs ago when i was 18.
use these forums for advise and help remember don't worry about asking a question even if you think its a daft one, cos when we've stopped laughing you will always get a straight answer, many on here are or have been in the same boat as you are now

Everyone on here will be happy to give you info and advice whenever you need it.
You can also look in the archive section of the forum, or do a search. Most questions have probably been asked in the past by someone or other!
Good luck with your test! 8)

Have a look in the for sale section. There is a nice looking red 1.1. Looks good for a cheap to run and insure first car.
Btw. I haven't got a particularly mechanical mind either. I've had my gti for a month or so and am learning loads from this forum, haynes manual and just arsing about with the car in my spare time.
Good luck,
