So! Been meaning to join this fine forum for sometime and finally having a night off work, ive managed to get round to cracking on!
owner of a mk1 caddy fitted with a PD130 6SPEED from a mk4 golf and a mk1 golf 3 door fitted with a g60!
The caddy was my first vw / classic and since then ive had many including beetles and pickups! not a great lover of the modern car but had a mk4 golf for sometime (may have seen it on the bay, r32 interior sepang bronze paint sl55 rims etc was real nice!).. getting back on track anyways, had my current mk1 caddy for some time and ever since i acquired it ive dont nothing but work on it! bought it when it was white and fully standard apart from a AAZ conversion and some interior bits! drove it daily for around 6 months and the main work started to proceed! long story short i turned it from a standard truck that used to carry my good mates tischer all over europe to a hopefully! soon to be well known truck! (is that me being a little forward and bigheaded?) but its now sat in my garage with a pd130 6 speed in a fully smoothed bay etc etc etc.. just doing the final bits inside the bay (choosing management and deciding how to run my loom etc) and ive sworn it will be alive and running for bugjam 2015!!!! so keep your eyes open on the caddy forum for updates on that!
Now, quite possibly what your all waiting for… my MK1 G60! quite possibly a well known golf as been owned by a few enthusiasts over the years and not its fallen into my possession to be made into the beast it formally was but with a taste of my style! going to be receiving a full paintjob, new interior and a tidy bay! running a BBM charger at stage 4 it pulls well but being my first supercharged motor im not sure what to expect so may be fast may be slow depending on your experience.. looks rough at the moment but will come together shortly! hopefully my new proper conversion loom will have arrived by tomorrow as the engine loom is… well… a massive birdsnest / fire hazard!
when i first bought her, the exhaust that was used was so stupidly loud the next day it had to come off! so my good mate took the raceland / cobra sport system off his g60 for me to use but i soon realised i had a problem! when i attempted to remove the manifold, i couldnt for some reason so bodged his exhaust onto my manifold where it joins near the gear selector and drove it daily until i had time off work to get the engine stripped and see what the problem was! so a week or so later i managed to get the spare time to pull the bits off i needed to get some room and whip the inlet off.. then got the outlet off and what i found was just shocking… 3 of the 16 holes for both manifolds were good / standard.. the rest had been bodged to say the very least! one hole been tapped to a m12 and a threadless bolt glued in! anyways the head is going back on tomorrow as got some time and has been sorted.. managed to tap the exhaust manifold bolts and 'hellicoil?' the inlet holes..hopefully all goes well but will need to modify the gear selector as the exhaust catches so will need the cable change conversion soon enough for that!
stop boring ya now anyway and get you some pictures to look at!

Welcome to the forum vanman, thanks for stopping by
Nice Caddy you got there, PD130 + 6 speeds will be fun! G60 number plate looks familiar but I can't think of a previous owner to be honest.
Nice street name too!

Nice write up mate and welcome to the club!
Cars are amazing, and forget the G60 I can't wait to see the PD running!, have you got it as a standard map or are you going to be nudging it a little further north of the 130?
Get some project threads up for us to follow please!
Cheers,
Si
