Back in the Vdub game...

Hi all,

Just wanted to say hello and post a picture of my new VW! I had a 1966 bug which I loved to bits. Sold it because we were planning moving house which fell through. i sold it to my fiances sister which was cool as I got to see it everyday. unfortunately its now possibly a write off as the recent flood were not very kind to her  we thinking of getting him back on teh road either way.

My new Vdub is a 1991 Sportline and I love it to bits. All ready done a few things to him - new radiator fan, new mohair hood - I want to get the front grill back to original and take the front splitter off. What did an original sportline look like at the front, piccies maybe? Going to put some original rear clusters on too. I quite like the M3 looking ones but the passanger side cluster has recently decided to become a fish bowl!! Plus I like the original look.

Had a split bypass hose today which was fun. Luckily the water temp light decided to flash just as I was driving past a halfords! Those original hose clips are hard to get off! put nice new jubilees on now. The water system is currently drained and I will be refilling it tomorrow. What coolant would you guys suggest?

Anyway here he is:





One question I have is I seem to be missing the cold air intake hose. I am assuming one of the previous owners had some different form of intake/induction system on it and didnt bother putting this pipe back on. I had a look on the GSF site but cant seem to find anything that seems like the right part. Any ideas?
