Ayup peoples newbie here

Hi guy's n gals,                                                                                                                       
Im a very happy owner of a mk1 gti,in need of a lot of work as it was someones project and nowhere near finished
i would like as much info on converting it to a 1.8 16v the engine is fitted but that's it.
i traveled a 420 mile round trip to swansea for it and im hoping it will be worth it,
i'll take pic's soon and put them on.
