Any Ideas??

Hi everyone!!

Totally new on here and am having abit of a dilemma!! Would be grateful for any advice!!!

I have a Mk1 clipper cabrio 83, have had her for nearly 2 years but she is off the road due to wiring burning out after a job a garage done…..I just dont know what to do with her….she is looking very tatty…..am in 2 minds whether to sell her for spare or repair….or to just keep hold and get her back on the road….the prob is she has a Mk2 engine not a Mk 1….is she worth keeping??

it's worth posting on here asking for the parts you need in the   "wanted "  section ,  if it's the garage's fault how come  they didn't sort it out for you ?

Welcome!

As Jim says, if the body is sound then def worth it.

I bought her for restoration and planned to get her resprayed as the 2 front wings are slightly off colour and she needed tidying up; I was driving her round for quite a while but put her in the garage because the petrol gauge wasnt working at all….turned out it was the electrics…..the garage fixed it and everything was working brilliantly until one night I put my main beam on….the wires started to melt…..fire engine job (very embarrasing!!) it didnt go on fire just a lot of smoke…..I rang the garage the next day……and they just kept palming me off and with one thing and another I gave up and took her off the road….

Think I will keep her…..and start from scratch!!!

Where abouts in the country are you? There may be a member who can give you some pointers/ help or parts advice.

definatley keep her mate, the worst decision i ever made was getting rid of my old one (engine died big style) 8 years later i got another one and love it (even with a few probs) you got a garage to work in so it shouldnt be too difficult to work on patching wiring or replacing properly if ya can.

My advice, keep her and get her going again, you prob regret it otherwise and you can get great advice on here too

regards
