Another Newbie...

Hello all,

For several years i have been a fan of the Golf Mk1's - I think them to be in a class and style of their own and hopefully good folk like yourselves can keep these cars running for many more generations to enjoy as i have.

Several weeks back after my normal day-to-day car saw it's last drive i set about with a budget to get another car to keep me going. To my astonishment i found a Golf Mk1 (I think) 1989 Clipper Cabriolet up for sale. After a quick negotiation with the other half it saw me running to the garage with my card ready to purchase.

So here i am… With very little knowlegde on cars but huge ambitions for this lovely little runner i keen to seek input and wisdom from those in the 'know' - At the moment I'm doing my best to put right all that was wrong when i bought the car. These are mainly small things like, missing window handles, damaged cigarette lighter, missing key for the glovebox and damaged light bulbs.

I was trying to put a couple of pictures up on this site for others to see but a little unsure on how you go about this?? Do the pictures have to be stores on the web somewhere before a link can be set up?? - Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

(p.s - Nearly sorted out the little niggly bits mentioned above and am currently looking to get a new filter panel/ induction kit?? - Any suggestions and help on fitting??)

All the best,

Craig

Hi Craig and welcome!

First off, here's a post on how to put pics up http://www.vwgolfmk1.org.uk/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=46071

Second, feel free to ask us all anything you need to know. Check out the home page for cabby buyers guide - although you have already bought there may be some useful info there

look forward to see the pics

Cheers

Andy,

Thanks for the warm welcome and the nudge in the right direction - Followed the steps and here is my attempt and uploading a few pics!!

Hope this works… As previously mentioned this is still a really new purchase so the rusts spots and lovely back window sticker are things that need working on =) Apart from that any thoughts??

Craig

Craig welcome to the site mate!!!

On the above, you can buy the pins that go in the barrels of all your locks.  This means that you can have one key to fit your doors, boot AND glove box.  Think there may be some on e-bay as well as on razy-Quiffs" sit (link on the lefts - an advert).

Glad to see the car has found it's way to someone so excited about the mk1's… that's another one looked after then   .  Pics turned out great mate.  Maybe post your own thread in the projects section so that we can see how it's all going  :dontknow: .  Good luck fella and thanks for joining us  :y:

Thanks for the warm welcom - Funnily enough most of the stuff i've sourced already to fix some of the 'niggles' have come from Crazyquiffs… It's more food for thought - Thank you,

As for the projects section, thats an excellent idea - Would people still post advice for me on there if i got stuck??

Thank you,
