Hi there all, I have just recently purchased my first MK1 Clipper in white, So far i am very impressed with it, i picked the car up on friday 24/10/08 and the seller advised me to make a sharp exit to the fuel station as he drove it to me on fumes, and yes it ran out about 500 yards from a fuel station, after being rescued i finally got to the fuel station, as normal started to fill it up and noticed a rather strong wiff of petrol, oh dear my fuel is running from under the car and all over the forecourt, major lock down at the pumps and just to add to all the exitement a fire crew was there in seconds, (Fire station about 600yards up the road) the filler pipe has slightly corroded and has a slight hole in it, I visited a VW dealership with my job today and just happened to ask the parts dept about said pipe, That part is now obselete sir he said, oh dear. Anyways my lovely car is H reg, 87k miles all completely standard exept for the alloy wheels, the engine does'nt skip a beat and sounds as sweet as a nut, i have posted some pics on facebooks official site for MK1 owners.
My name is Ian by the way.

Ian,
Not all mk1 owners are like that mate… funny story though I couldn't help laughing… !! They are known to rust around the filler neck and there are parts on e-bay so I wouldn't worry too much about them being obsolite!!
Welcome to the site and I'm sure people here can help you and aid with any questions you have. I've recently become a member on the advice I received alone never mind the regional meetings and big events. I hope you settle in mate and find your way to repairing that leak!!! ops: ops:

Good to have you along but shame about the filler neck or moreover the seller playing a fast one. You can get filler necks from loads of places so no worries there.
