Advice on selling my Dad's VW Golf Cabrio GL

Hello there

My dad has given me his VW Golf Cabrio GL Reg. Feb 1983 to sell as it has been off the road since 2005. I could do with some advice re where to advertise or who to contact.

VW Golf Cabrio GL
Reg. Feb 1983
engine 1457 cc
Petrol
Blue
Soft top
Very good condition
Mileage  129 331
off the road since 2005

Any info as to a reasonable asking price etc would be most appreciated.

Many thanks

Charli

That's the key point and it really depends on condition, not so much the age. I guess there's a reason its not been used for the past 4 years, what's the reason? Incomplete? Still runs? Any major faults? Paintwork? Rust? etc

If its genuinely very good condition then recommission it and put a fresh MoT on it.

Mind you its a bad time to sell a cabby, not only is it now autumn, but there's loads more for sale these days, I guess due to people having them as second cars then prudence dicating a sale.

I guess your right about it being the wrong time of year to sell.

The car has been in the garage as my dad works in Norway during the week and has a company car so it made sense to take it off the road as it wasnt being used. It is in really good condition so you might be right to re commission and re tax it.

Thanks for the advice might contact some dealers and see what they offer.

Don't go to dealers with it Charlim, you won't get much at all for it with no T&T. Your best place to sell would be through this forum but it's very hard to value your car without any pictures.

Do you have a digital camera so that you could put some up on here?

WHY NOT JUST HOLD ONTO IT AND RESTORE IT OVER TIME? IF I COULD FIND A NICE 80'S MODEL,I'D DEFINITELY BUY/RESTORE IT

your better off holding on to it atleast till the start of summer anyways, you'l get a better price, winter will give you a chance to get her taxed and tested a good clean up and have her ready for spring, you'l catch the one season wonders then who buy them cause the suns out but then end up selling them come the end of summer as they hav no where to store them but def hold on to till sprig fella that will make a big difference in how much you may get for her
