Advice needed

Hi All,

I currently dont own a Golf but looking at definatly purchasing one soon. I currently drive a 2005 Astra, and yes its nice to drive there is something about an old classic golf you cant beat.

Im looking at a MK1 Clipper or GTI Cabby. Been looking at Autotrader and Ebay and a few around the south east area I might have a look at.
Im pretty useless regarding mechanics, but is there anything I should look for? Rust in certain areas?

Any help would be great, and hopefully I can be a cabby owner very soon.

welcome aboard and agree with James.
If anything is not covered ask.
When buying a cabby the hood condition is important, if they say it has had a new roof then ask for proof.
An old leaking hood is one of the pitfalls, to be aware of.
Have a look at the headliner, the bit you see from inside the car on the roof, you cannot change these without stripping the old hood off and the interliner and pad first.

Look for obvious signs of water damage, smelly carpets, stained seats etc.

Welcome to the site mate.

Plenty of people on here with a LOT of knowledge.

As posted above, the buying guide pretty much covers everything.

Good luck with your search
