Loved MK1's for ages, and finally found this beauty in auto trader, 1.1L 81 ?200, 56,000 genuine miles,  all reciepts, 1st time starter.

I know restorations the way to go but seeing as its only a 1.1L there isnt the history that the Gti's, campaigns etc have so i'm thinking of toffee paint job, toffee leather retrim, clear lights, dropped, azev a's, neg camber, completely smoothed round backside losing the rear bumper in the process……….

………….then when the insurance man says i can, convert to a G60.

Firstly welcome to the Club and nice find!

Personally I think it's a shame to modify such a nice original example. Yes, non-GTis are worth less and not so sought after but in my opinion you get more respect for owning a neat standard car than a modified one (I should know, I own both!). Remember, fashion comes and goes but originality is forever!

Plus check with your insurance company that you are both happy with the mods you are planning.

Cheers, its uninsured at the moment as i wouldnt get much back after excess.
Plan to use this as a beginning then hope to pick up a restoration project.

Will keep the site posted and pictured though, hopefully get some feedback

Haha, not really, the dining room has turned into a garage!

Although, there are now 4 extra seats in the living……which is nice!

just chuck a couple of throw overs .over the seats and make out new furniture
