1988 gti convertible problems

hi there just joined….
just purchased myself a white gti cabriolet…..always wanted 1 and this came along at a price that was to good to miss it does however have some probs…
firstly the power hood and e/w dont work…i was told by the peole i brought it off was that they had the wrong battery in it and it wasnt powerful enoughto operate the electrics….didnt believe them but as they said it i am asking the question….also the interior isnt gerat so if anyones got a leather 1 for sale let me know …

The electric windows and hood fault could be related. Start diagnosing around the switches in the centre console and make sure there is a +ve feed for them back to the fuse box. Check the fuse hasn't gone.

I donk know much about the relays you'll see in the boot next to the hood pump as I've never had a problem with mine yet. I just needed to re-wire the hood and windows into the fusebox as someone had taken a feed straight off the battery!
