VW ACTION 2007 - An announcement

Hi folks . . .

We'll be updating this thread once a month to keep you all up to speed on what's planned for the VW ACTION event of 2007 . . . celebrating 20 years of 'New Wave' events . . . 20 years of VW Drag Racing . . . 20 years of Volksworld Magazine . . . and 20 years of Brett Hawksbee's involvement in this 'scene'.

We had a meeting with Santa Pod last Friday and have the green light to proceed . . . so VW ACTION 2007 WILL take place at Santa Pod on the weekend of August 31st - September 2nd

The WHOLE EVENT will be staged on the 'grass' side of the track . . . and laid out very similarly to the Actions of Herts Showground . . . including the large 'square/rectangle' of Traders with the Show 'n' Shine (and EDV on Saturday) in its centre.

We're hoping to organise the following:

Bands ALL DAY on Saturday (hopefully recapturing the VWoodstock vibe) with Queen'd headlining

Bands interested in playing a set should send a CD to:

We'd LIKE to use bands from within the scene

Dance Tent on Friday Night
Maybe an 80s Tent (we're celebrating 1987, remember?) on Saturday Night
Displays (inc. a display from Clubs of each model - Type 181 Register, Club GTi, KGOC, etc.)
Foreign Show Cars
Show Cars from Back In The Day
Traders
Autojumble
Children?s' VWorld
Fun Fair
etc.
All the 'usual' Action stuff

Once again, any 'help' or 'suggestions' are most welcome

The track should be viewed as a bonus . . . with sessions during Saturday (including the night) from 'invited' cars . . . to include the likes of:

VWDRC vs Outlaw Anglias
Golfs vs Street Bugs
BWA vs USB
VWDRC and/or OF/F vs DAS Cars (We'll have to wait and see)
Top Fuel Demos
Scandinavian Pro Stock Demos

We'll add more and confirm stuff as we go along . . . and act on any good suggestions to the very best of our abilities.

We are also offering VW Parts Traders FREE Trade Plots (just pay for tickets) in the hope that we can make this one of the busiest 'trade' events of 2007

All kids under 13 go FREE (this should help the 'family' budget)

Sunday is 'open' RWYB all day

Saturday will be 'invited' cars only, so let us know if you have something special we?d like to see

Just so's there's NO confusion . . . 'DAY' tickets DO NOT include CAMPING

If you camp either Friday or Saturday (or BOTH) it requires a WEEKEND ticket.

We'd like you to think of friday as a BONUS rather than those who arrive Saturday and stay over till Sunday feeling they've 'missed out' or been 'charged too much'

We are also working on a photo and memorabilia exhibition covering the last 20 years, with an emphasis on the early days.
