IS EDITION38 JUDGING CORRUPT

now then guys and gals did e38 this weekend didnt see sunday results but think saturday show and shine results were well corrupt.

is it just me or did some of the winners not deserve to win.
i thought there were far better cars than the winning cars. they all seem to know each other pretty well. even see some of them drinking together on the sat night. seems like if your not in with the orginisers youve got no chance. any body think the same or is it just me.

did have a great weekend and did look for the club stand but didnt find

chears folks

  nice one guys obsessive compulsive cleaning show n shine ..i like it..
Maybe E38 could start up a new show n shine section
PMSL
I would like to see em clean there car if it got spayed with mud from scratch. and watch those buffers go to work.
I just think E38 is overkill of mk2s with the biggest shinyest n widest BBS,es.
Ok there are some true vw folk but most went to action me think,s. :dontknow:

well being a judge myself at the ed38 show !  if you know anything about the show and shine on the saterday its called ten of the best this means its ten of the best cars we would like to take home ! not the best cars on the field !

many cars have won on the saterday that would not normaly take anything i rember that rallye preped mk1 two years ago i picked the red one with the white mud flaps ( dub boys car ??? i thing ) i loved that car so i picked it !

people love the ten of the best on the saterday because every bodys in with a shout ! and you will find that most of the cars were daily hacks

hey unless you chuck 10 k at your 10-20 year old car or are best mates with "the grounded" or "westside" possys, to name a few! then you got no chance of winning anything
for some reason and open ended check book means you win everything, hard work done by an individual is secondary, it appears the more you detract from the original idea of the car and modify its appearance or colour gets you awards? sure some of the cars are look good; but are virtual statues and never get used or driven properly :?  if thats actually possible as on some of the slams and rims i have seen being run you wouldnt get over a drain cover!
I am definately on the the side of "less is more" fancy paint schemes and 3k interior re trims dont do it for me, but if thats what it takes to be-friend the editor of a vw publication then i cant see it stopping the "credit card  trophy chaser kids" anytime soon….

BOVVERED! :tlc:  Shownshine is a bit OCD but the whole weekend was stormin! nice to meet you nod! Id rather wash my car than rip the bolts out of it on the strip at Action IMO!

A thouroughly good weekend with lots more "oldskool" motors this year.

See you next year.

just wondering if that would include a full spray on a mk1 in dragon green?its a non-standard mk1 shade after all and a 3k interior trim is pretty much on the money for a good job just to have an interior that you would take for granted in a modern car or have you just to leave the original battered and torn seats in just to keep it 'origianl'?. Im sorry but i do take offence to the credit card trophy chasing kids statement,im building a car myself just to have it at a standard im happy with, yes its getting a respray but im doing all the prep, yes its getting a retrim but id like a bit of comfort and yes ive done every bit of spannerwork(including building it twice already and restripping it down)on it so far myself but im sure ill be lumped in with your targets just because you can. I cant paint and i cant trim so i have to pay for it and that will include months of beans on toast,i want a good job so the spray and trims are expensive but if i wanted a halfassed car id have bought a ford  :dontknow:

why cant people just go to shows and at least just appreciate the cars? nobody will ever agree on judging so make your own minds up what you do and dont like. Cheque book cars win only when an individuals efforts sometimes arent up to the same standards as professionals jobs and thats just a fact and why sometimes you just need to bite the bullet and pay for something

i know one of the judges at e38 very well - my brother has got a very nice daily drive but we didnt win anything. so surely by the comment passed that you have to know someone to win something is wrong. its all in a persons opinion - not everyone will agree with everyone else!!!

:dontknow:  Wether or not you include yourself in the trophy chaser statement? is entirely down to you really, like i said credit goes to people who do the work themselves, even if they didnt spray it themselves or whatever, i dont personally consider dragon green a flashy paint job as its a standard vw colour, dont get me wrong im not knocking nice stuff and improvements its the reasons behind why people do them is what gets on my goat!
turning up at a show with a 20 year + old car thats had 10k of a banks money spent on it purely to win a plastic cup is not whats its all about to me, thats just like joining the "in crowd" groups just to get noticed or in a magazine by befriending the editor!, most of the vw publications and shows are clicky, all mates…all with prior knowledge of whos gonna win this years X…Y…and Z
when was the last time average joe just turned up on the day and walked off with a top trophy?????………… exactly

I had no idea that was your brother. I wondered why you two always answer each others posts!

His lupo is a classic example of less is more. It is only when you compare it with a completely stock lupo GTI that you notice they very clever (yet subtle) modifications.

Jesus!

There`s some serious sour grapes here!!
i wnet and loved the show for "the show" .. the cars,  the camping, the dance tent.. and a damn good excuse to get out there and socialising instead of slagging peopleoff on the internet.

Design and make your own "Ive got the best Mk1 ever" trophy it`ll keep you quiet.

Just enjoy what cars turned up… and take all the results with a pinch of salt..

Some people eh? Dont know if a good time if it was to land on their head, and force them to lighten up!

Stay out of the black…
 And into the red….
You get nothing in this game for 2 in a bed!

I went last year and remember a fella who drove onto the stage with an older bloke next to him.

His car was a Mk3 but had been re-worked with 3.5 front end, Mk4 rear bumber, re-sprayed in a bronze colour and when the MC asked him to talk about the car, he handed over to the passenger saying someting like,
"I just paid for it".

It wouldn't be acceptable in my opinion to that owner to win cause he doesn't know his motor!!!
