You fair weather drivers :posh: you know the car was built to cope with a bit of rain.
It was a real shame that the weather was pretty rubbish, but I was more annoyed by the amount of people who won't come out in the rain to support their club :?  It did clear up in the end.

Agreed, built to be driven rain or shine. The guy who owned the winning mk1 said he spent all day yesterday cleaning it and was gutted when it started raining, but came anyway!

I enjoyed myself. Rain or shine does it really matter? The cars wont shrink, you can leather them off if they get wet or jet them off if they get muddy. If Walt can take his car so can any of us!!

The camping was great, music fine, the Stella went down well but I had the mother of all hangovers on Sunday morning!!!

The only downer was the amount of traffic on the motorways on the way there and back.

WELL DONE TO EVERYONE WHO TURNED UP. ESPECIALLY TO ANDY AND DREW FOR THE HAD WORK BEFORE HAND!!

I agree all the way with that one

And I agree even moreso with everything Dano said. It was a brilliant weekend, I think most people had a fantastic time[despite the rain] and I think Debs would agree with me if she wasn't in stroud followed by North Wales followed by North Yorkshire followed by home

Oh yeah and the mugs are very swish! 8)

Its a matter of preferance i dont use my cabby in the rain.I like to think that its preserving the car and also i dont spend 30 mins cleaning my  rs001s to drive 5 mins inm the rain to have them messed up .

I think the slogan should not be "never driven in  rain" to "never enjoyed in the rain!"

I think its great preserving your car from the rain, but once in a while won't harm it, the condinsation and damp in the garage can slowley disolve your car!!

I once bought a Imp which spent 10 years in a dry garage, had to replace the sills because they had gone thin!!!!

If you love them enjoy them rain or shine!!!

Just my opinion, meets sounds great, just no spare time at the mo.

I wish I had been there rain or shine. It's sad to see the weather put people off but it looks like every one that went had a "whale" of a time. Get it?? Splish splosh

I used to own a mk1 - well I've had 2 actually - YDU 720X & SMU 420Y. Currently I drive an 98 Scotia White Mitsubishi Evolution V RS…. fancy getting another mk1 someday :D

We had an excellent time!!  :D

We had spent a lot of time getting the car ready, and it did get wet and muddy, but so what?  :dontknow:

From home on Sat morning for Gaydon, back to home last night after the week away ours did 1040 miles, approx 800 of those towing, and never missed a beat.

Including Gaydon we were on a total of 4 muddy camp sites! The Golf didn't seem to mind!  :posh:

We would have missed out on meeting loads of superb people if we had woossed (sp?) out of going because of the weather!

Andy and Drew obviously put in a lot of their time and effort to organise the meet, and we're already looking forward to next year's!
