Zender three piece spoiler

This was on my car when I bought it. I don't mind the look but after a while( I've had the car 11 years) it became clear water was leaking into the tailgate through where it had been screwed on. Tailgate started to rust from inside (nasty) and I,ve just had to replace it. Now I've got the two side pieces of the spoiler still screwed on, but I don't want to fix the large centre piece on with screws again for obvious reasons. What is the best way to fix it without them? Anyone know of any proprietry brands of mastic or similar that would do the job??

You could try " Sikaflex adhesive " comes in a caulking gun tube

Available at your local motor factors its used to stick almost any thing in the motor trade like "…. to a blanket " Its good but the Zender is quite heavy , worth trying though instead of drilling holes again ..

Sell it!

Just taken one of a 1800 GTI and it's had exactly the same problem. It's just a water trap - the rust behind worried me so much I took the one piece zender off my other Mk1 and i'm going to sell that too.

Got my 3-piece on ebay at the moment…

cheers shonky but I've gone and done it again! Fitted it back with screws but siliconed them all. There's no water going to get in this time. As I said, I do like the look of the spoiler, so going to keep it. Am I mad ???  :dontknow:
