Will They Fit . . .

I'm toying with the idea of buying a set of 15'' BMW BBS alloys.
The kind chap selling them has said that the stud fitment is 100 x 4 ET24

Will they fit on my mk1 clipper ???

I look forward to your response

What BMW are they from?

If there from a E30 you'll be fine, the slightly different ET is better for the golf believe it or not!

They will fit but if your car is very low you will have rubbing problems. I had e30 OZ wheels on mine but took them off due to arch contact.

At et24 and 7 inches wide (I'm guessing they will be 7's at 15 inch dia.) you will deffinately get arch contact on the rears and probably the fronts too, if there is enough travel in your suspension.

Only option is to roll the arches which should give you the clearance you need, or, not go too low, but put rock hard shock such as Koni Top Adjustables on to limit the suspension travel.
You will probably need both as the rear end on a cabby seems to suffer more than the old tin top!

Have you all seen this fellas car? cause i havent.

no ones discussed rubber here either, for instance stretched rubber would buy you a couple of MM's clearance on the inners & outers etc

35 or 40 profile rubber would buy you a few inches in the radius etc…

I have a lowered car with 205/40/17's on it with no rubbing problems at all  8O

Fair point on the rubber, but none of you two have mentioned what offset your 17's are…

My brothers old Mk1 had 15x7 et 25 MIM's off a BMW on it and the buggers stuck out plenty! Stretched rubber might help a bit, but it is not a deffinate fix as it depends on exactly what size rubber you go for.

my 17's are the right ET for the car as far as i know

Which is…???

If you have 17's at ET 35 to 38 (Correct for the car on standard wheels) then you risk the inside of the tyre touching the spring platform.

The "Right" offset can change for any given size of wheel.

I'm just trying to point out that fitting a set of wheels to your car is not as straight forward as some people might think, especially if not standard size.

et 24 on a 7x15 (agreed with al that the asumption of 7j is a fair bet, given they are off a bmw) will rub. maybe not all the time, but at some point, they will rub. 185/55/15 tyres will still give a bit of rubbing. folding the arches and cutting the plastic arches will more or less relieve this.
et 24 on 7x15 with 195/50 or 45 or 40 will end in tyre contact with standard arches.

Hi,

Sorry for not getting back sooner.
Got a little more info for you though . . .

Wheels are from BMW E30, size = 15" 7J ET24 4x100
Tyres are Yokohoma A539 tyres size = 205/55/15

Does this help ?!!

Cheers

Ps, My clipper is as standard, no mods, not lowered etc . . .

With this setup, you will need to do some arch work, the wheels will fit fine though.

Still i would advise getting your suspension sorted first.

My guess is with those tyres and offset it'll rub but then every golf is different and there is no definate answer. just fit them and see if contact is made anywhere.

205/55/15's will 100% rub. not a friendly tyre size for the mk1 anyhow.
