195/50/15 will keep the rolling radius the same (speedo will read right) or maybe 195/45/15 (speedo will read a little faster than you are actually doing) will have a slightly smaller profile. Stick to a name brand like yokohoma, toyo, dunlop etc…

I'm running 195/50/15 yoko a539's

ive got toyos on mine an i cant wait to smoke em off cos their pants, yokos are too soft,  if your after a cheap ish tyre go for a GT, nice sexy rotational tread pattern ace in wet an better dry, hard/ even wearing of failing that a vredienstien, a few mates av ad em  on rwd's an they just dont wear down,

michelin- too dear/ crap
toyo- poop
yoko- wouldnt have em given
perelli- dear but not bad
bridgestone- not bad but still dear
ceat (made by perelli, kwik fit tyre) w NK !!!!!!
dunlop- should stick to tennis equipment!!!

just my oppinions but what do i know……….. i only fit tyres for a living

Tyres n steering

:) Hi just bought a 1991 clipper it has yokahama on back and activa on front. Both 195/50/15 on alloys. They look pretty wide to me and am wondering if they would cause the steering to be heavier than it should.

when i replaced the standard vw wheel and cheapo 175/70 tyres on my golf with 7x15 wheel and 195/50 tyres [yoko] my steering actually got lighter.
