Wheel wobble severly

I've recently fitted a 40mm lowering kit brought from ebay and along with i have replaced all suspension components but i've just gone to take the car for a test drive and it feels like my wheels are falling off. Car was fine before i carried out work.

Please help i feel defeated :(

I've gone over the nuts and bolts but still no joy

Sounds like the wheel hasn't been fitted properly, or that something else is not tightened up or fitted correctly, that should have been. Its a guessing game without actually looking at the car, since you'll have taken the struts off and on again, etc but it will all need looking at again.

When you say ALL suspension components - can you list what you're replaced?

replaced…

top mounts
struts
springs
anti roll bar bushes (altho using exhaust clamp to clamp outter bush to wishbone)
wishbones
bushes (urethane kit)
balljoints
tie rods and arms

i think thats all…

I am thinking wondering if i've put all the washers back on and done all the nuts up tight enough. I've jacked the car and wobbled the wheel by hand and i'm sure the whole hubs moving. Its raining and stormy so its nasty trying to look at the mo lol

Its just weird how its both sides too to me

Someone had a similar problem where they complained their rear wheel alignment was way out. They posted pics and I couldn't see it, but in the end it was because the wheel hadn't been bolted on properly. So that's why I suggested it at first.

If the wheel is off and the hub carrier is wobbling, then you'll need to look at where the movement is. I don't suppose you held each piece (bolt, bush, component etc) side-by-side with the old and new, while you replaced them, to check they were the right size etc? Everything torqued down to manufacturer's recommended torque value? Did you replace/fit the small cylindrical metal spacer in the top mount too?

on the rears yes because i done them myside and i have no problem with the rear of the car. its just the fronts. i had 1 of my customers i deliver to build the front shocks and i gave him the old ones incase he needed parts…

i know i havn't put wshers on the lower bolt thru the strut to hub and no washers on bolt securing balljoint to hub.

i can't be sure becuse i have dark cloud cover and can't see to well with the constant rain but i think its the balljoint, arm or bush maybe.

i did check sizes roughly tho so i think thats cool.

is it the bearing carrier thats wobbling or the hub?  I had a really wobbly hub on my cab which was due to a trashed bearing, also I noted the driveshaft nut wasnt done up tightly. I had heard that moving a car with loose driveshaft bolts can cause the bearings to be destroyed, so i guess it came down to that.

p.s. crazyquiff does new anti roll bar wishbone clamps :)

thanks people for all your interest and help. I'm gonna see what i can see when i get home in couple hours so i'll post on later what i can find.

and thanks for the link for crazyquiffs doing anti roll bar mounts. I'll get me some  :D

i think my driveshaft nuts are all good tho as i can't seem to be able to turn the nut either way even tho i'm using a hench breaker bar….

Humm I noticed that the wheels/hub on my cabby where wobbly but I had no drive shafts. I've been rolling it around a bit on them with out any shafts (Probably no more than 200mts total). I'm currently fitting the driveshalfs as I think this will solve the issue but I hope I haven damaged the bearings as there all new.

I would check that the hubnuts done up correctly and the ball joints.

fingers crossed for you, but mine were totally gone. no idea how long it had been like that though it was like that when i got the car. if i did the hub nut up tight the wheel locked up, thats how knackered it was!

lol think i have knackered the wheel bearings somehow. I've gone round all the nuts n bolts n nothing seemed seriously loose. i'll bolt everything back up n take for another drive n see how i get on now and maybe see if i got the muscle to do the drive nut up some more :banghead:
