What breaks?

I've heard of two way to do a budget (ish) break swap. and am wondering which is more recomended:-

sky rocket 16v calipperes and carriers

or

280mm disks

with the latter could any one give me some more info on doing it

I wouldn't consider using the 280mm upgrade because if you've seen the size of the Mk1 GTI pads (the kit's that are avaliable to upgrade a Mk1 to 280mm discs use Mk1 GTI calipers) you're not gaining any more surface area other than maybe a small amount of extra leverage if the 239 pads are positioned to the edge of the 280mm discs but still, the pad size of Mk2 pads is a big improvement and cheap if you can find the correct caliper carriers.
