Weber Carb Upgrade - Please Help

Right, from doing some research i think i need a 32/34 DTML Carb.

But, the Webers i have found that say this also state that they are to replace the Pierburg 2E2 carburettor and im sure mine is a Solex unit?

Is this the reason for the Adaptor plate, and will this plate be easy to make/get made for the car?

If someone could clear this up then hopefully i can get my Mk1 up and running well!!!

Thought Pierburgs were only fitted to the mk2? Haynes just states a 34 PIC-6 as the carb type for 1983 1.3. Where are you buying the carb from?

Is this the one? From what it says it is from a 1.6 mk2 golf (although could be a cabby?) and the adaptor plate will be to adapt the carb for a mk2 manifold. The question then is, is their a difference between a 1.6 mk2 & 1.3 mk1 manifold? Which sorry to say I don't know the answer to

Steve Matthews (he posts on the forum under that name) knows his stuff when it comes to small blocks, manifolds and carbs, sure he would know. Might be worth sending him a PM.

Good luck

Your best bet is to speak to somewhere like Southern Carburettors (sorry, don't have a number but Google them) and ask them for a plate.

If you got no joy from them, I should be able to knock you one up and post it down to you using gaskets as a pattern.

Best of luck,

Steve

So that is the right carb Steve that i should be buying?

As for an adaptor plate, that would be brilliant, how much ? we talking?

That carb would do the trick nicely.
