vr6 or twin 40s?????

hey people just wondering what would be better in a mk1, a vr6 out of a mk3 or
an 8valve with a stage3 head, fully recon, fast road cam, twin 40s, 2.0L bore up to a 2.1 (audi short block) fully balanced and light, light fly wheel.

which would be better?

The 8V will never make much more power than 140bhp or so. The 16Vs are much more tunable and could achieve 180-190bhp, why don't you consider one of these?

you are right the 8v will only make about 150bhp, but with all the mods the torque will be huge. the 16v would be nice, but i have been offered a vr6 engine and everything else to go with it

The torque won't be that huge - to give 150bhp, the 8V engine would have probably been modified to rev higher. Also, a hot cam will lose you torque in preference for high end power.

VR6 is a MASSIVE job to fit into a Mk1.

8V on carbs is OK, but 16V is better, due to the X-flow head and bigger power potential.

however if you have to make the choice between vr and 8v, go 8v.

itll at least be driveable!!
