Urgently need wiring help guys - 16v

:redfaced:

Ok, wired the coil in, sensors etc and plugged the hall sender in, from the looks of it I'm not getting the coil earthed correctly, it's getting a 12v feed though

stupid question but do I need to wire up anything from (B) in the image below?  :dontknow:

as always guys, really appriciate your help

Not reading the FAQ thing I sent then ;)

B: Three Pin Multi Plug (Black/Yellow, Red/Yellow, Black/White)

Black/White. This should go from the ECU to join 'D' at the coil, or loop back and connect to Black wire from/to TCI (see D below).

Black/Yellow. Throttle Position Switch, Pin 3 and onwards. This is not required, however can be wired up to give acceleration enrichment.  (NOt sure on the details of this, see the file in the FAQ from the caddy forum post).

Red/Yellow is the Fuel Pump Relay Trigger. NOT required if you already have an injection mk1 as you will have the existing Mk1 Fuel pump wiring and 5-Pin relay already in place. If converting a Carbed mk1 this wire could be used to trigger a 16V (4-Pin) fuel pump relay.

So…the only one you need to wire up is black/white.  Throttle switch if you want it.  I never bothered but will be wiring it in when i do the ISV, as the ISV loom also goes to the T/B switch.

:redfaced:   I got a little lost with information in the FAQ

noticed on the TSR 16v loom image you'd sent there was a black/white wire that also needed to goto the coil

got spark now  :D but the battery died  :banghead: once it lives again I'll worry about the TPS and ISV.. it'll be nice to have a Mk1 that starts in the warm!!

I've triple checked the wiring, timing and fuel so if it doesn't start tomorrow morning then that car has it in for me!

know what you mean wooders, Manic has been very helpful with info.. spent a good hour trying to work it out before giving in and putting a post up, sometimes it's just easier to ask a specific question than search pages and pages for what your after

:p

As far as I can tell the TSR loom has std connections with the exception of the t/b switch.  It doesn't use the fuel pump feed wire from the ECU and doesn't have the third pin of the T/B switch going to the Overruncut off valve.

Instead it takes the Black/yellow from ECU to T/B, and I assume it connects the 'ignition live' feed needed for the T/B switch from existing ignition live feed for the ECU (Pin 15 on the on the coil, where black and black/white already go).

I should take the TSR loom out of the FAQ really, at one point loads of people seemed to have the TSR looms but I think people have realised it's a waste of time now.

What the TSR loom doesn't do is take into account using the ISV loom.  The ISV loom needs a feed to the T/B Black/Yellow wire on the ECU loom, and a 'ignition live' feed.

So…if I was making up a new loom i'd tap off the ignition live and black/yellow wires from the ECU loom and leave a two pin connector that an ISV loom can be connected to if required.

Well, that's what i intend to do, when I get round to it, lol.

The down side of course is that the ISV would then be off the same ignition live feed and so presumably same fuse as the coil and ECU/TCI…

That's as far as i've got on that, the ISV loom is still sitting on my bedroom floor.  Need to buy some new multiplugs.

ah bugger…i'm late for work…

ign live for isv comes direct from fusebox, and since the isv control box should be behind the dash anyway thats no issue.  the factory way the isv gets the throttle feed is there are 2 wires from the throttle switch, 1 wire goes to the plug in the scuttle tray B the other runs to the isv box.

the mk2 ign loom B plug is 2 pin, the black/white wire is run direct to the coil +ve with the wire to the TCI. the corrado has a 3 pin plug, the black/white wire runs to the fusebox on those models.

if you do decide to use the oem k-jet fuel pump relay, make sure its the type without a rev limiter built in, otherwise it'll cut in too early on a 16v.  if you do have a rev limiter GSF do a relay without one:
935VG0090 k-jet relay without limiter £ 23.20.

the throttle switch should have an ign live feed, the black/yel to the isv/ecu and a 3rd wire to the cold throttle enrichment vacuum switch. this only works when the engine is cold so its not really a big deal to do without it as you shouldn't go around flooring the throttle when cold anyway.
the idle switch send ign live to the isv when throttle closed, and ign live to the vacuum switch when the throttle is open. this feed goes to the vac switch, which closes when it detects a hard throttle condition via the vac hose that is attached to it. this then sends 12v to the csv/5th injector via the terminal on the starter motor pin 50a, you'll note on cars equipped with the cold throttle enrichment the 50a terminal on the starter has 2 wires, you now know why ;)
this then sends 12v to the csv, and since the earth path goes thru the 5th inj thermoswitch it only happens when the car is cold.
