Tyres

Ive just bought a set of BBS RS001s for my golf, there beautiful by the way!  Im thinking about tyres now tho, what sizes do you guys think, wheels are 15inch + 7J front and 8J rear.  I was thinking 195/45s front and what on the rear? Could i stretch some 195/45s over 8J?

Based on what I've seen and had on my car in the past I don't think thats doable. And beside you will ruine the side wall.

I've had 205 sit on 7" wide rims and it's a perfect flush fit as is so 195 over 8" I don't think it's possible.

I run 195/45 on my 7 inch rims and they arent streched at all and would easily fit on an 8 with a tiny strech, I personaly hate streched tyres and think they are dangerous but a 195 on a 8inch rim isnt bad as 8 inches is 204mm so its only a 9mm different unlike when people put a 165 on a 7 are they mad. Also on the rear of a mk1 8 is to wide really and unless you go crazy on your arches the will mash your tyres.

i had 194/45 on my 6" RS 001's. They were fine.

Thanks for the info guys.  Is 8j really too wide for the rear i didnt think it would be too bad, how much work to the rear arches do you think i will have to do?

My rims are 7 et38 if not then 35 and I had to cut the inner lip down to about 1/4inch of its life and also I rolled it up so it gave a nice rounded edge, and to doudle check I wound my coil overs right down and nothing touch but i cant get my little finger in the gap and I dont have suasage fingers.
