Tyres Rubbing

Hi All

I have 15x7 alloys (et37) with 195/55/15 tyres and i took the back wheels off over weekend and noticed that the tyres were rubbing against the spring on the suspention, Anyway i found somewere that sell 8mm spacers and i was wondering if 8mm will be enough. any help/ advise is welcome.

Thanks
Wayne

If it's just rubbing a little then you should only need to space out the wheels enough to stop it, if you see what I mean.

If you go with 8mm spacers you may start to rub the tyres on the wheel arches, especially if you've lowered the car.

You don't need to be able to park a bus through the gap between tyre and suspension, you could hardly squeeze a gnat's chuff between the gap betwen my old passat wheels and spring cups but I drove around for weeks without any problems.

Yradave says relax.

as said..it only needs spacing a few mm, dont go mad or it will rub the arch instead, think tian got some 3mm spacers somewhere recently as he had issues with caliper fouling on the front, they sorted his problem so cant see why they wouldnt yours

Hi All
Thanks For your Replys a decided to go with the 8mm spacers and the work fine. to be honest it's only the back wheels that were rubbing. so i fitted them put some copper grease on the springs and on the edge of the arch and started jumping on the back bumper. and when i took the tyre off to check it there was no copper grease in the tyre so that obviosly means that it's no longer catching on either the spring or the arch.
Thanks again
