not a great combo to be honest. i'd ditch the idea of using the dhla's. sell the carbs and ascociated bits on to help fund fuel injection. what is the car running at the moment?

no the twin 40's leak like sieves under boost, there is a turbo kit you can buy to adapt the dohletto carbs into accept positive pressure but very hard to find.

I personally wouldnt bother using them if you were dead set doing it that way

turbo or supercharged on carbs

could you run a supercharger on a single carb?
i've got an abf engined mk1. want to go carb rute. but also want forced induction.  :dontknow:

not that it doesent have enough power already. just being greddy i suppose.

is there any one on here that has had forced induction fitted to an abf?
can you run forced induction on k-tronic mfi?

just after some info/advice really.

cars not a daily.

1457 gx, matalic green. 5 door.

better to stick with injection for forced induction. you can run super/turbo chargers with k-jet, yes.

I've seen guys run these kinds of set ups on their old BMWs…primaraly with a 32/36 webber. Underlight boost they they seem to hold up. But even the CIS injection system on the MK1 will only take so much boost. I've heard from an old time british racer that carbs will take about 5 psi of boost. Which is nothing to snarf at.

vortex is a useful site for turbo info. the septics have been at it for years. just bear in mind, as with any site, use it as information gethering, not gospel, then filter out the nonesense. useful though.

you can run turbos with carbs, that's not in any doubt. cis only takes so much boost? tell that to the ur quattro rally drivers.

The lotus esprit turbo used the dhla 40's with a Garrett T3 turbocharger, that coped with a boost pressure 9.5psi (0.67bar).

they leak boost like sieves

I've had a carb turbo'd car and when pressure tested the carb was terrible for holding pressure, comes out of the throttle mechanism and the choke flaps and all the little holes!

I'd build another though it was great but the jetting is really what you need to worry about as it is a black art unless you know what you are doing.

I have a 16v manifold you can buy if you like to fit weber 40's to a 16v engine, good condition send me a pm.

just realised that they are 45's not 40's on the esprit.
