Im looking at putting a 1.8 20v turbo from a mk4 golf or TT or something along these lines into a mk1. Can anyone offer some infomation on cost, time and hassle involved?

COST = LOADS! Budget at least ?2500 for a DIY fit or ?4000+ for a drive in drive out conversion. This is engine only. You also need to factor in brakes and suspension, so another ?1000 at least.

TIME = Months for a DIY - Engine sits in easily enough, but electrics and exhaust work etc will take time, plus you need to fabricate the gearbox bracket.

HASSLE = No hassle, we all do if out of love!

I'm no expert on this conv though, there is a lot more to it than that!

16v on twin 40's

Classic. Good power when done right and one of the best sounds you could have under the bonnet…

Currently doing a 16v on bike carbs for mine…

easy option id go for the 16v on 45s as thay sound the tits
or depends on how much power u want if a lot then go for the 20vt
although my mate did a 1.9 16v on 45s and he made 190 bhp at the wheels in his mk2  8)
