My personal car, we have designed and developed this kit that is a bolt kit.

It doesn't look that quick?
What are you selling this "Bolt on" kit for, considering not many Mk1's (modified) actually use the Mk3 8v 2.0l engine…

The engine has been transplanted, we in SA have many engine importers that import engines from Japan, USA, and whereever they get a good deal, as a result on of the very popular conversions in SA is the engine transplant of many later model engines into the older or even newer MK1 Golfs (the Golf 1 was removed from production in 2010 here in SA). Guys here usually opt for the torquey 2.0l 8v tall block engine with an aftermarket engine management system. We have now taken it a step further and built a bolt on turbo kit to target the interest in this market. I'm not sure what the feeling is in the UK, however I suspect that the types of turbo conversions that we do in SA would cost a helleva lot more in your part of the world.
This car makes 135fwkw (about 180bhp) and about 280nm. The car and engine setup is designed for everyday driving at 0.5 bar boost. The idea was that if golf5 gti's are out of your reach then consider something less expensive but just as (if not more) exciting to drive.
The car is not as kwik as a high powered 16v (I just sold my 250fwkw 1997 mk1), however it is relaible, easy to drive in traffic, affordable to maintain and bloody awesome on fuel. This car is designed to be a complete package, we are busy installing a set of coilovers, a power steering unit and airconditioning.

Turbo (with an internal wastegate), intercooler, dump valve, boost pipes, silicone bends, all hose clamps, mounting brackets and an engine management system with 5 different maps (the ecu comes with a wiring diagram). I am an investment banker and I have tubo charged some of these cars on my own, so it is relatively easy. My business partner has over 20 years of experience modifying all kinds of cars with his speciality being VW.

the figure that we are looking at is about USD 3500 excluding postage and shipping.
8O - You could do a pukka 20VT conversion for that!
Good luck, but I don't think you'll be getting many orders at that price…

I found a link on the net that uses the opel corsa electronic power steering unit and we are still busy modifying the unit to fit in the right hand drive Mk1 (here in SA we never had any left hand drives and we have thousands of 4 door Mk1's fyi).
I will be sure to post the description, components and cost of such a modification.

Taffygoat, Jetta has a power Steering conversion kit for sale in the for sale section
(The Mk1 Golf Owners Club),
basically you replace your steering column with one modified with a corsa eps. its a straight forward swap out, I intend on getting it done after christmas ..

I have a market in SA of over 300 000 mk1 golfs built from 1979 up to 2010, none of them ever came with the power steering option. If you have something that works on a right hand drive mk1 and you are willing to manufacture and supply then I am very interested.
The corsa option is really a neta little solution.

the conversion is from this ebay link
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230506411788&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT.
However Jetta on the forum has copied it and made his own, now he is selling the one he bought off ebay
