Turbo Diesel Engine Downpipe

I know a few on here have done diesel engine drops into their golfs.

Im just wondering what you've done about the downpipe from the turbo ?

1.6 GTD mate, going into a mk1 caddy.

its 'should' be the same down pipe as the mk1 1.6D, thats what ive used and i have a mk2 1.6td in mine, fits like a glove

The non turbo down pipe is different to the turbo downpipe.

Ive got the Mk2 gtd down pipe, but heard it needs modding to fit?

i have a 1.6TD and that went on fine? Im guessing its different because of the turbo using the manifold?

Would like to sort out a nice stainless steel downpipe, be good to sort it out before i drop the engine in, otherwise im gonna have to weld one up.

got any pics? what turbo has it got?

ive got a 1.9 AAZ with a 1.6 garrett T3 using this downpipe







its a mk2 manifold with the toilet bowl cut off,a flat plate welded on and the downpipe bust bolts up to it  :wink:

I think ive got a K14 turbo on my GTD motor.

Bert where did you get that downpipe from or did you have it made up ?

i had it made up,its 2.5" bore,no middle box just a rear box, sounds nice,not loud either,turbo muffles the sound a bit,you can hear the turbo spooling up when you rev it a bit  :wink:

bert, couldnt help nut notice the blanking plate on your wastegate you should put a screamer pipe there

does it pass emissions with no cat?

diesels dont need a cat,and im a mot tester  :wink:   8)

8)  cool  , il remember that in case i have any trouble with mine lol. the tdi i took the engine out of had a cat :dontknow:  or is it just not a legal requirement ?

what about the wastegate?

diesels dont need a cat for an mot,its just a smoke test,so be ok  :wink:
