I dont recall one manufacturer ever producing a vehicle ( not uk at least) with a carb and turbo.
Blow thru or suck thru configuration are your two options but id go injection,(i did! lol) its just more accurate in fuelling and is a whole lot less hassle.

reno 5 turbo was another candidate was the 1.7 volvo turbo a carb? i dunno but i would agree with abf inj would be alot easier to control. I dont understand how turboing a non turbo car costs so much. lmao if your doing it in a shed with a step by step guide that shows you how to rig it up and you can make / rob the stuff needed to make it work then why not its worth while.
I know just a random rant. im on a forum for the 172 and honest to god they've no imagination it really kills me lmfao. every single thing is oh just buy this from here or go to reno for that or its far to much hassel. you know there was five mod's a trader and umpteen members who were handing out advice on topping up the geerbox oil mainly being you have to take the wing nut off the gear box get a bit of tubeing and let you new oil run down the tube into the gearbox until it starts to run back out the open whole. even when one member was like can i not fill it up through this breather with a funnel on the top of the box? he was told nope had to do it through the side i used the funnel shapped bit thats what i done an it worked just fine. i was just that supprised that no one had done it before.
I love the fact that so many people on here try new things that havent been done before if you want help with somethings this is the best place to ask in my opinon. I wish every forum was like the mk1 owners club

what about metro, montego? didnt they do some turbo.carb versions
Ahh yes youre right!
I stand corrected!
However they used an HIF6 constant depression carb rather than a fixed jet type.
Also thought of another (frenchy) renault 5 turbo.
Still id go injection tho.

I don't see why you couldn't do a draw-through with an SU though. Run a light pressure turbo from a diesel (so compression can stay about the same, so you don't lose too much bottom end and just get a bit of "free" power in the midrange) and draw-through so it doesn't need a seal (so you can use the diesel turbo). Might make nearly as much power as a 16v after countless hours of fiddling and melted pistons…
I agree, the chances of me actually doing it are about 1%.

Its got all the calculations (easy stuff even i can follow it! ) including turbo sizing, systems, intercoolers and all that good stuff to get you a better grounding so if in the future you decide go nuts and actually do it ( next week maybe? ) youll at least have a better idea of what it entails.
