streering rack nuts..............?

hi, i was wondering if anyone could help me with a small problem…? i recently removed my steering rack which resulted in me having to cut off one of the nuts from the rack itself. i have since re-fitted it but im in need of a new nut, ehich i cant seem to fin anywhere…? does any one have the correct size..? i have tried unf,unc nuts but none seem to fit..? i noticed the thread WAS really fine which made me think it was unf….? please help cheers sean

hi tried a m8 did,did not fit. i tried an m14 nit seemed to fit ok but the thread pitch is to fine for an metric nut i think! It's the nut that secures the threaded end onto the ball joint…?

I think you mean the locknut that locks the track rod to the track rod end ball joint. A VW dealer would be your best bet.

i took mine of last week and got new nuts, chudd is correct if you mean the 4 nuts that actually bolt the rack to the bulk head :s

I think it's the one you have to slacken to adjust the tracking thats needed, the narrow one.
