Stock or not !? :)

Heh everyone, just picked up a 79' series 1 gti in need of a full resto, the plan is to keep it stock apart from collies and rims. It's running the early 1.6 motor , now do I re-building and bang it back in keeping the car more original or do i strip down my mk3 16v and whack that in there on carbs takin the originality away but giving performance..!!?? Head scratcher :s
What do u all think ??

I think if it was mint and original i'd not want to mess with it.

Seeing as it needs resto tho, i'd bang a bigger lump in it and have some fun, just keep the outside looking relatively stock!  :wink:
