Saying hi and first question

Hi there,

new to the forum, i have a 1982 4 door green diesel golf. bought it as a rolling shell, with plans to fit an 8v gti.

basically i have the engine, full wiring loom etc from a mk2. also have 3 mk2 8v gearboxes.

wht am i going to need to make it all fit?

dont have any drive shafts at all, so which ones do i need is my main concern right now.

thanks in advance

Any MK1 100mm shafts will fit a mk2 box , your taking on quite a task and will need all the donor fuel parts from a MK1 , tank , pump , fuel lines etc etc ………Not to mention electrics , Digifant ecu etc .

Carbs would be cheaper and easier .

Just a thought

cheers for the reply.

i was under the impression that since i have the full wiring loom off a mk2 from this engine, i could chop that about to fit? then it would be a case of plugging and play with the engine bar the fuel tank/line problem?

if i was going to go the carb route, roughly what would i need?

Either a pair of carbs (Weber or Dellorto) or maybe a cabrio inlet with a weber replacement carb.
Twin carbs need an inlet manifold, linkage, electronic fuel pump, fuel filter and pressure regulator. A GTI fuel pump relay would be needed to, along with the ECU, dizzy and associated parts from a carb model- either mk1 driver/cabrio of possibly a MK2 driver.
You can get most parts from Eurocarb or keep your eye out on e-bay for the bits you may need. :)

Projekt Frustration :

White 1991 Clipper. Lowered over polished zender rims, Single 40 dellorto on lynx manifold, kent cam, full stainless 'zorst / manifold, powerflex bushed and braced. Not the fastest car, but sounds super nice!

Still going after 12 years… never said it was a quick fix! Time is not my friend.
