RWD Motorbike Power

Hi all,

First of all well done to those in the Mk1's this weekend at Edition38 show! Great cars all of them.

Second of all, I'm hoping to start a project very soon….motorbike power, RWD, Rear engine.

Anyone done this? And what running gear did you/they use?
I'm thinking of going the Hayabusa route, but possibly R1?
Gear linkages, wiring, cooling won't be major compared to the running gear…..rear axel?
Get rid of rear seats, cut a hole out and strength with box section, then sort out some mounts?

What should I expect to pay?
How much work is involved?

I am spanner handed and work around motors alot….

Sorry for all those questions but I thought I'd get them all in one lol.

its no small task and you will have to be a dab hand with a welder. you'll have to essentially fabricate independent suspesion for the rear for a start.  :?

as for running gear you would use the original motorbike box then you'd need what i think are called transfer box (might be wrong) but they give you reverse gear. youd probably want to make a roll cage to mount the lump to.

so in short massive amounts of work but do-able

have a look for z-cars minis with bike engines in the back……and if you want something truly nuts check out the double r1 engined mini on youtube

Personally I hate that sort of thing, same when they do it to a Mini, no longer anything like the car was meant to be.
