RS Turbo Leather Seats In MK1?

A breakers yard near mine has just gained a totoalled RS Turbo.

The seats are the RS Turbo Leather Recaro seats and are mint (no bench), but i'm wondering, i know the owner and he says i can have em for ?150 which is a bloody bargain, can i fit em to my MK1? - i presume all i'd need to do is weld my MK1 sub frames in replacement of the RS ones?

Pretty sure mk1 subframes sit too high. Try scirocco or corrado ones. They sit lower. Corrado ones have tilt & height adjustment on them. Not too sure about the rocco ones though.

I've got rs turbo seats in mine, I used the original mk1 seats stripped down to the subframe and then welded in bars across to support the new seat. The rs seats fit inside the golf frames so if you weld the bars on the underside that drops them down a bit more, my mk1 drivers seat had the tilt mechanism also. As already mentioned rocco or corrado seats frames are lower in comparison, that said I'm 6ft odd and don't have a problem using the mk1 frames.

None of the Mk1s had tilt. Your subframe would be from a Mk2 if it sits around the same height as a standard Mk1 seat or a scirocco/corrado if it is obviously lower. Judging by the pic you posted, I'd say Mk2.

rupe's pic shows how easy it is to modify a Mk1/2 subframe to take this kind of seat though. ?150 is a bargain, go get em for Xmas!

It's from my citigolf perhaps thats why it's got tilt.
