Roofrack question - hold the flames!

I want to fit a roofrack to the golf (tintop)

It's not going to be rusty or full of car boot sale tat.

I want to carry a surf kayak or surfboard on the roof - hopefully without wrecking the roof.

Anybody used any racks on their golf that they would recommend?

I got a paddy hopkirk one but i never put anything on it  :mrgreen:

a new one or some kind of scene approved monstrosity that we were ashamed of our dad's owning?

Has it damaged the roof?

Halfords do a cheap one that is fine if your not looking for style and it'd purely to carry your boat, I had one for my kayak, just make sure that you have decent rubber strips before clamping it down otherwise you will see crush marks in the oaint, but that goes with any type that you buy.
