Retro fit Power steering

This subject may have already been covered if so I apologise.

Has any member had any experience of fitting power steering to a 1991
rag top ? is it a viable propostion or should I save the money and just go to the gym.

Thanks

Mac

Power stearing is for Girls, besides if you did fit it you would probably turn it into a tree! The steering is so light, my "old" 106 had heaver PAS than my golf!

Well heres the problem, the car I am restoring has extra wide tyres & wheels fitted when I bought it, my wife will not drive in town because of
heavy steering when parking. I guess the answer is to change the wheels and tyres……..

I've had two 1.8 Clippers - one without and my current baby which does (along with a leak on a ram that the local rip off merchant quoted me ?400 to 'fix', i.e. replace!   ).
The one without was much better whilst on the move but a real pig in town. With the system I've got fitted you loose a lot of the feel that makes mk1''s so much fun. Having said that I don't tend to hair around too much and So am quite happy with power steering.
You pays yer money, eyc…
