What's the end result desired? Why does it need to be Mk1 Golf?

I'm sure that I saw a half finished project with an Audi V8 in the back for sale, not sure whether it was on here or on the bay tho.

When does it cross the line between modified Mk1 Golf and a pure special?

And does it even matter?

As long as it looks like a golf from the outside the more mods under the skin the better.

I'm sure there are many more but I have seen a Scirocco with a 16v in the rear and Volkswagen did Golfs with front and rear 16v engines for Pikes Peak races.

I'm liking the idea of rear wheel drive at the minute and transverse engined seems to make sence!

Kim Mather built a twin engined Scirocco back in the mid 80's for rallying. He used a 2nd front end welded in at the back. Dubsport have built a few twin engined ones too.

Ian Birch built one in 97-98,had a VR6 lump in the middle/back was bored to 3.0 and turbocharged. It was a PVW cover car so search through the back issues and you may just find a copy.Incidently i did all the body mods and painted it lairy orange for him.
