Rear Brakes Mk1

Guys, here's a tip that may be of benefit - tired of having a 'slack' brake pedal and having to adjust those rear drums, removing, adjusting and replacing the rears drums. I drilled a hole about the size of a 1p piece in the back-plate right where the so called self-adjuster sits. You can then gain access though this hole to move the adjuster WITHOUT having to remove anything !! Tools and parts required, drill, a big drill bit and two rubber grommets ( mine came from the scrap-yard, Passat bulkhead pair ) to plug the holes once you've finished and stop any rubbish getting in. Hey presto.

cheers

Cero - nice tip although you can get the adjuster through one of the wheel bolt holes

Aren't these supposed to be "self-adjusting"?
