Radiator Modification

I've got a US spec '84 GTI. I need to replace the radiator. Does anybody know if there is a simple upgraded radiator? Possibly one from a 16V? Thanks.

AFAIK 16V radiator is the same size, 525mm. What makes you feel you need a bigger radiator?

I tend to want to Autocross the little car and where I live it can be quite hot. I'm thinking just further into the future when the car gets a few more things.

yeah teh 16v one is the same as the late mk1 gti spec anyway.

I guess a potter round a scrappy might be in order!  a few people use GM ones as they are lower, can move them further forward to allow more clearance for 16v on carbs

which is the same dimensions and outlets as the origional, just made from aluminium. I had some cooling issues with my old knackered origional rad, but this one certainly seems to be doing the job so far.

So I went down to my local Radiator shop and he ordered one from Modine. Turns out it's actually a Behr. Nice Aluminum one. Runs a bit cooler and does not loose coolant out the the hole in it. Thanks guys.

Even with shipping and sales tax it was cheaper than getting one at the Parts store.
