Question about 9a in old Mk1

Hello from Bulgaria, nice to meet all Mk1 fans here in this web site.

I have a question, that I have no answer. I want to know is there any differences between old Mk1 and new Mk1, because I want to swap a 9a-engine in the old 1.1L Mk1 (with little talilights and circle gauges). Are there any problems with this:
This Golf 1 is not a GTI, it's a 1.1liter engine
I find an Corrado engine, gearbox and all things I need.
Is there any problems with swapping or the old one Golf is same like newer Golf1   :dontknow:  :dontknow:  :dontknow:

Sorry for my english, it's little poor but I think you understand me.

Cheers

No problems, just more stuff to do. Being series 1 or 2 is negligible. Starting from 1.1 means you have additional tasks to do. Check out http://www.fastgolf.or…ontent&pa=showpage&pid=30 for a guide.

http://www.fastgolf.or…ontent&pa=showpage&pid=31 should help, its an article on the engine mount move, which will be required.

A Corrado gear box is also different from the ones used in the MK1 GTi. If you plan to use that transmission you will need to either fabricate your own rear and driver's side transmission mounts or purchase a set (often seen on the Internet sites like eBay). The cable shifter that goes with that transmission will also require a little fabricating to mount in the car as it was not used on that model.

I know that, the corrado box is different, but I think to use the OEM gearbox from Golf I GTI
