Problem with Idle on 16V KR

Evening All,

Just fired up my 16v for the first time tonight after I did a rebuild.
It started fine but it is hunting for the correct Idle speed, It revs up to 2000, holds there for a second or two then drops down and either nearly stalls or does stall, if it doesn't stall it will repeat this cycle. I checked the throttle switch and that is working fine but I have found that the voltage to the outer terminals of the hall sender is around 11 to 12 volts, according to the haynes manual it should be 5 volts. Any suggestions? or could the problem lie elsewhere?

Maybe worth taking the idle stabilizer valve off and cleaning.I had the same problem when i owned mk2 16v.
Revs would yoyo between almost stalling and 2000rpm.

Hope this helps

I cleaned my ISV on my mk2 valver just weekend. It hadnt got that bad but it is loads better now. Doesnt hunt at all.

Simply remove it, spray in carb cleaner and watch all the gunk come out. repeat until the carb cleaner comes out clear. doesnt cost more than a few quid and simple, so its certainly worth trying!
