Hi everyone, a quick question! What sort of power would you expect to get from a 1988 1.8 8v, gasflowed head, running on twin 40 Doce's and a straight thro stainless exhaust? Thank you, Daz.
cam? manifold? i guess a hydro tappet head not a solid one? anything done to the bottom end? windage tray? breather vented to atmosphere? or through a catch can? carbs jetted properly? and what filters on the carbs? (socks cost power..) also what trumpets?
what fuel?
theres lots of un knowns. but id say anywhere between 115-130ish

If not then there is not much point doing it when you can get a 16v engine for about ?300

………then with the twin 40dcoe's i would expect another 10 hp if not more. …………..

also you could port a head all you want but if its done by a monkey it wont make any extra power, plus porting and polishing doesnt give that much power…not unless its the bottle neck, it big cam, free flowing exhaust etc, then the bottle neck to the flow is the head.
also the power will depend on the RR, one engine on 3 different RR will give 3 different powers… they maybe close if set up corretly, but never the same.
either way you dont know enough on the spec of the engine to give an guestimate of the power, at best you can give a finger in the wind guess.
