poly bushing rear axle

got my rear axle of as its getting powder coated, but before i put it on i want to poly bush it, except the long bolt is stuck in the bush/brass sleeve and is refusing to come out,
anyone got a good way of removing the bolts? my mate bought new bolts from vag last time he done it and bolts and washers came to like 20quid per side. ( from memory)

Mine were a bitch too.  Just soaked them in WD40, put them in a vice and hit them oot, took alot of effort believe me.  When my bolts came out I realised that the inside of the hanger was badly corroded so I got new ones from VW @ ?22 per side which come with the bush, plus the bolts which I think were around ?5. Woudln't normally buy the bolts from VW but I couldn't find them anywhere and couldn't be arsed looking to be honest.  Also when you buy thd original bolts at least you know they are the right tensile strength! So don't go replacing them with SS.

Good luck!

at work we got a big drum of duck oil (wd40 but 2000times better!!!) left the pair of them totaly submerged and soaking in the oil for about a day or so! came to remove one bolt and one slid out!  8O  the other one i had to cut the bush out, got rid of the bush completly (hacksaw and a blade)  till i was left weith just the brass insert and the bolt stuck together!

i add'd a slight bit of heat to the insert and it taped of with ease! but be carefull as 9/10 of the oils are flamable.

Burn the bushes out with an oxy actelen tourch and then heat the inner sleve of the bushs witht eh tourch as well and it should slide right off the bolt. if it dont find the fasteners section of the yellow pages and take the bolt with you aslong as you, from memory they are 1/2 inch UNF bolts which usually are all of a high enough tensile strenght (might sound bodge tastic but normally by rule of thumb black bolts are stronger that silver and caps heads are the strongest, 8.8 is the weakest rated bolt so anythign higher will do) but dont get metric as the threads are too coarse and are sods for working loose unless you use lock a second lock nut.
